Stamps with the theme 3-D Stamps
Embossing was the first method used to create a three-dimension effect as long ago as 1847, when Great Britain introduced a stamp featuring the profile of Queen Victoria’s head.
Latter day technology gave countries the possibility of issuing stamps with a true three-dimensional look. Sierra Leone, Bhutan and Tonga were among the first to introduce “real” 3-D stamps in the 1960s. Today, with ever more advanced technology, more countries are producing stamps with amazing effects that can be attractive to collectors.
